A warm welcome awaits you at Le Tilleul Gites.
Two delightfully different detached holiday accommodation properties.
Les Hirondelles is a sympathetically restored barn conversion, accommodating up to 4 people and, with both bedrooms having ensuite facilities, is ideal for both family and friends sharing a holiday together.
La Bohème is a renovated, traditional French cottage, all on one level and suitable for up to 4 persons.
Our gites are situated in the pretty village of Paizay le Tort, in the Deux Sevres department in the heart of the Poitou Charentes region on the west coast of France. We are within easy travelling distance of Poitiers, La Rochelle and Limoges airports, and within a day's drive of Calais and a few hours
from the ferry ports of St Malo and Caen.
This beautiful region averages 2,250 hours of sunshine per year, making it the second sunniest region in France and, therefore, an ideal region to visit from early spring to late autumn. In winter months, both gites have a woodburning stove, providing a cosy atmosphere after a day's sightseeing or a walk or cycle ride around the village.
The gites are situated in nearly an acre of mature gardens where you can, depending on the season, take your pick of figs, damsons, nectarines, grapes, apples, pears, walnuts and more.
The 7.5 x 3.5 metre above ground pool is shared by all and is situated within a paved and walled area. Sun loungers are available for our guests.
We have plenty of trees giving welcome dappled shade from the midday sun, as well as bougainvillea, oleander, lavender, lilac and mock orange amongst the many shrubs that border the gardens. And we must mention the huge lime tree at the entrance which, in French, is Le Tilleul.
In a large converted barn we have a games room, which offers you, a pool table, darts, table tennis, table top football and a small snooker table. Boules, croquet and badminton are also provided for outdoor use.
We also have a selection of bicycles for all ages, free to use to explore the countryside and the surrounding villages.
We live in an area where the roads are quiet so cycling and walking are a delight. You should be able to spot Hoopoes, Golden Orioles, Woodpeckers, Buzzards, Red Squirrels, Cattle Egrets and Herons. In the summer evenings look out for the Gloworms and Owls.
